Abstract: 
Leadership Qualities Among An- Najah and Bir Zait University Students Abstract This study aimed at identifying the level of leadership qualities among students of An- Najah and .Bir Zeit Universities. It also aimed at identifying the impact of sex, university, college, place of residence and political trend variables on students' leadership qualities. To achieve this goal, leadership scale prepared by Al-Omari (1995), originally designed by Nariman Rifa'ee (1988) and consisted of 32 situations to express one leadership quality each, was used. The questionnaire was Judged by a 10-PhD holders and was modified accordingly. Reliability of instrument using Test-Retest method was (0.84). The sample of the study totals 1185 students ( both sexes) attending An- Najah and Bir Ziet Universities . The study sought to answer the following questions: 1- What is the level of leadership qualities of An- Najah and Bir Zeit University students? 2- Are there statistically significant differences in the leadership qualities of both universities students which may be attributed to sex of students? 3- Are there statistically significant differences in leadership qualities among Bir Zeit and An—Najah University students that can be attributed to " University " variable? 4- Are there statistically significant differences in leadership qualities among students of An-Najah Bir Zeit Universities that may be attributed to " College" variable? 5- Are there statistically significant differences in leadership qualities among Bir Zeit and An-Najah University students that can be attributed to " place of residence" variable? 6- Are there statistically significant in leadership qualities among students at An-Najah and Bir Zeit Universities that may be attributed to " political trend" variable( Fateh, Hamas, Popular Front , Democratic Front and other factions. To answer the a forementioned questions, frequencies percentages rates independent groups T Test, one way analysis of variance and, LSD test. The study revealed the following: -An-Najah and Bir Zeit University students enjoyed a high level of leadership on the leadership quality scale: education intuitiveness, good listening, cohesion with followers, calmness and seriousness, respect of those younger than them, honesty, consultation with group, humility, rejection of bribery, fairness interest over private in interest, self —denial and strength of perception. -Students at. An-Najah University and Bir Zeit University are characterized by an averages level of leadership on qualities of intelligence, ability of thinking and confrontation of situations, mercy, devotion in work, reception of criticism, initiative spirit, responsibility for mistakes, interest in sports. -Both An-Najah and Bir Zeit University students enjoyed a low level of leadership on qualities of distinction, boldness, belief in message and articulation (fluency). -There were no statisically significant difference at (α=0.05) level in total leadership qualities that may be attributed to sex variable. However, there were statistically significant differences at (α=0.05) level on quick intuitiveness, ability to think and face situations, initiative ability, fairness, which may be attributed to sex variable. The differences on all these qualities were in male's favour while the ability of thinking and facing situations were in females' favour. -There were no significantly statistical differences at (α=0.05) level in total leadership qualities according to university variable. But there were statistically significant differences on leadership qualities, perseverance, punctuality power of perception, sense of humor due to university variables. Differences were in favor of students at An- Najah university concerning initiative, punctuality power of perception. Differences were in favour of Bir Zeit University concerning quality of sense of humor. -There were no statistically significant differences at (α =0.05) level on leadership qualities among students at An- Najah and Birzeit University students which may be attributed to kind of college ( Humanities or Sciences). -There were statistically significant differences at (α =0.05)level on leadership qualities among students living in towns, villages, and refugee camps in favour of town students, followed by village students and refugee camp students. - There were no statistically significant differences at (a=0.05) level on general leadership qualities among students at An- Najah and Bir Zeit Universities which may be attributed to political trend. Despite that, there were differences in leadership qualities and most of these difference were in favour of students belonging ( membered)to Fateh and Hamas. Recommendation: 1- lair Zeit and An- Najah University administrations should show an interest in developing qualities of boldness, articulation ( fluency) belief in message among students through involving them in seminars, extracurricular cultural activities. 2- Village and refugee students should be encourages to get involved in and adapted with University community and to avoid bias student treatment . 3- I laving in to consideration the integration of family school, University and society roles to bring up a sound personality from all aspects. Universities should show interest in extracurricular recreational activities: social, cultural sports and Arts . these are so important in developing the necessary experiences in developing leadership qualities among students.
