Abstract:
This study aimed at identifying the impact of particpatiou in summer camps on 8tl1 _ 10tl1 grade students' physical sel f-coucept in Qulailya public schools. The study tries to answer the following questions: 1. What's the degree of 8 th – 10 th grade students' physical self-concept in Qualqilya public schools? 2. Are there statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) in 8 th – 10 th grade students physical self-concepts which may be due to sex variable? 3. Are there statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) in 8 th – 10 th a grade students physical self-concepts which may be attributed to place of living? 4. Are there statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) in 8 th – 10 th a grade students physical self-concepts which may be attributed to academic GPA variable? 5. Are there statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) in 8 th – 10 th grade students physical self-concepts which may be attributed to number of grade variable? 6. Are there statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) in 8 th – 10 th the pre-and past scales, among the control group? 7. Are there statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) in 8 th – 10 th grade students' physical self-concepts between the pre-and post-scales among the experimental group? 8. Are there statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) in 8 th – 10 th the grade students' physical self- concepts on the posthole, between the control and experimental groups? To achieve the study objectives, the researcher used and administered Marsh's physical self- concept scale after it Arabization, The scale has eleven domains: appearance, strength, endurance, flexibility, health, conformity, activity, fathess, physicel exercising, physical belt: and self-respect . to chick the reliability of the scale, the researcher used Knonbach alpha equation. The reliability coefficient was 0.91 and it was sufficient for the purposes of the study. To chick the validity of the instrument and its appropriateness, the researcher presented the instrument to a number of referees in the Educational Sciences College. Their feedback was talken into consideration. The population of the study consisted of s"-1o" grade students in Qalqilia public schools. The total population of the study was 4170. The sample of the study consisted of 6% of the total population. The subject of the study (251 male and female students) were chose purpose fully and were divided into experimental and control groups. After administration of the instrument, the researcher got back 246 copies of the questionnaire: 132 from male students and 114 from female students. For the processing of data, the researcher used SPSS. The following statistical processes were used: - kronbach Alpha to obtain reliability coefficient. Paired T-test. - Independent T-test. - One -way Anova and Scheffe -test to hold post comparisons among aritnmetic means. Findings: The physical self-concept of the 8 th – 10 th grades in Qalqilia public schools was arrearage. The percentage of the response amounted to 62.33%. it was also found that there were statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05) in the 8 th – 10 th grader's physical self-concept at Qalqilia public schools due to sex and grade variables. However no statistically significant differences were found due to place of living and GPA variables. It was also found that there was no improvement in the physical self-concept among the control and experimental groups but better improvement was found among the experimental group. In the light of these foundlings the researcher recommends that parents families show more interest in encouraging their children to participate III summer recreational camp programs as they have appositive role in refining their children's personalities.
