Society Serving Centers and the Continuing Education in the Palestinian Universities in the Northern Governorates of Palestine (Status, Problems & Future)

Abstract: 
The purpose of this study was to identify the situation, problems and the future of the society serving centers and the continuing education in the Palestinian universities in the northern Governorates of Palestine, from the point of view of the Administrators and Trainers, also, from the point of view of the trainees.The population of the study was consisted of Administrators, trainers and trainees in Society Serving Centers and the Continuing Education in the Palestinian Universities in the northern Governorates of Palestine in the scholastic year 2001/2002 amounted (2165). After using arithmetic means and percentage for the future and the status of centers the study showed from the point of view of Administrators, Trainers and Trainers that, the total degree was medium the percentage ratio was 68.48%. Using (ANOVA) analysis showed that there were statistical differences for the status and the future degrees of the centers from the point of view of trainees, which was due to the Universities variable on all domains.After using T-test the study results showed that there were statistically significant differences in degree statues and future centers on program’s aims and courses planning between males and females in favor of females By using (ANOVA) the results of the status and the future showed that there were statistical differences due to age variable on domains of courses organization between ages 20-25 and 41-45 in favor of 20-25. By using (ANOVA) the results of the status and the future showed that there were statistical differences due to qualification variable on domain of courses aims between Secondary scientific qualification and less than, and Diploma in favor of Diploma. Also it showed that there were statistical differences due to qualification variable on domain of courses planning between Secondary scientific qualifications and less than, and Diploma in favor of Diploma Also by using (ANOVA) the result of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences due to profession variable on domain of program’s aims between the student and private section employee in favor of private section employee. On domain of planning for program’s between governmental employee and private section employee in favor of private section employee. And there were also differences on domain of courses organization between a student and the private section employee in favor of private section employee, student and free business in favor of free business, governmental employee and private section employee in favor of private section employee. After using T-test the study results showed that there were statistically significant differences in degree statues and future centers due to courses attended on domains of courses aims between popular and private courses in favor of popular courses. And on domains of total degree between popular and private courses in favor of popular courses. By using frequencies and percentages the result of the study from the point of view of trainees showed that the best way for advertising used in continuing education and serving society centers was first through job then friends next newspaper after that communicating with the centers, while the last effective way for advertising was the broad casting.The frequencies and percentages for the most familiar problems witch the centers faces from the point of view of administrators were that centers not having an independent budget. The frequencies and percentages for the most familiar problems witch the centers faces from the point of view of trainers were the weakness of co operation with academic section on the university.The frequencies and percentages for the most familiar problems witch the centers faces from the point of view of trainees were the poor supervision. In the light of these findings, the researcher has arrived at the following recommendations: 1- The urgent necessity of having an independent budget 2-There should be formal resources for financial aid. 3- There should be annual meeting and conference to discuss the status of Society Serving Centers and the Continuing Education in the Palestinian Universities.
