Abstract:
The Israeli occupation relentlessly waged its psychological war against Arabs in general, and against Palestinians in particular. This war started in the first Zionist conference, which focused on waging a psychological war to gather all the Jews in the world in Palestine taking advantage of Belfour’s promise.
This kind of war goes along with the racial and aggressive Israeli ideology which uses on the Israeli psychological war as way to establish the state of Israel urging Palestinians to immigrate by using invitation and intimidation.
This can be done by following two methods. The first one is by encouraging Palestinians to immigrate and work abroad to guarantee that they will never get back. The second one is by terrorizing them before and after the establishment of the Israeli state by committing massacres such as Kufr Qasim, Der Yaseen and Jenin camp massacre. In addition, in the last war, which was waged against Gaza, the Israelis used internationally forbidden weapons such as white phosphorus.
This study aimed at recognizing the dangers of the Israeli war on the intellectual Palestinian security as realized by the students of An.Najah National University. It also aimed at getting to know the influence of gender, faculty, living place and the political affiliation on the perils of the Israeli war on the Palestinian intellectual security.
The main research questions of this study are as follows:
As realized by the students of An.Najah National University:
1. What are the main motives behind the Israeli psychological war against Palestinians?
2. What are the main characteristics of the Israeli psychological war against Palestinians?
3. What are most used methods in the Israeli psychological war against Palestinians?
The population of the study comprised all the students at An.Najah National University in the year 2013/2014. The researcher chose a random sample that the members of this sample were about 282 students (males and females).
In order to achieve the aims of the study, the researcher distributed a questionnaire, which consisted of about 65 questions. They were distributed on three areas depending on the literature review. It was approved by the experts in the field, and it was validated by employing Cronbach’s Alpha equation to the extent that reliability coefficient was about (0.92). Besides, the data was analyzed by using the SPSS program.
The results of the study showed that the overall degree of the psychological Israeli war was about (3.8). It also showed that the overall degree of the perils of the psychological Israeli war on the Palestinian intellectual security was (3.83). Furthermore, the overall degree of the characteristics of the psychological war was (4.06). Not to mention that the three overall degrees were high according to the scale, which the researcher made for this study.
Finally, this study showed that at the significance level value of ((0.05 ≥ α, there were no statistically- significant discrepancies in the perils of the Israeli psychological war on the Palestinian intellectual security according to the point of view of the students of An.Najah National University. This situation was due to a number of variables, namely: gender, faculty, living place and the political affiliation.
In the light of the results of the study, the researcher summarized the following recommendations:
• It is necessary to add a course about the Palestinian cause at An.Najah National University specifically, and at the Palestinian universities in general. This course should talk about the Israeli psychological war, its characteristics, methods, motives and its influence on the Palestinian intellectual security.
• It is necessary to hold exhibitions in the university talking about the aggression of the Israelis on the Palestinian values and heritage and
