Abstract: 
This study aimed at investigating the levels of optimism and pessimism of general secondary public schools students in Jenin Governorate. Furthermore, the study tried to determine the effect of gender, type of study, father education, mother education, father job, mother job, school location, number of family members, rank of student in his family, number of rooms, and type of school variables on the psychology of optimism and pessimism. To achieve the goal of the study, it was conducted on a sample of (563) students, which was equal to 25% from the total population of the students, the total population was (2272) students. The data was collected by using selgman scale. Then, the study tried to answer the following two major questions: 1. What is the levels of the psychology of optimism and pessimism of general secondary public schools students in Jenin Governorate? 2. Is there any significant differences in the psychology of optimism and pessimism of general secondary public schools students in Jenin Governorate due to (gender, type of study, father education, mother education, father job, mother job, school location, number of family members, rank of student in his family, number of rooms, and type of school variables)? The results of the study were analyzed busing descriptive statistics to find out the means and the percentages, in addition to "T" test and one way analysis of variance. After analyzing the results, the study revealed the following: 1. The general secondary public schools students in Jenin Governorate were optimistic low degree, the mean response on slegman scale were (25.98) degree out of (48) degree. 2. There were no statistically significant differences in the psychology of optimism and pessimism of general secondary public schools students in in Jenin Governorate due to variables of: gender, type of study, father education, mother education, school location, number of family members, and number of rooms. 3. There were statistically significant differences in the psychology of optimism and pessimism of general secondary public school in favor of literary stream schools, and rank of student in his family in favor of (1 1,12), kind of school in favor of the mixed schools. In the light of these results, the researcher recommended the following: Workshops should be conducted for both male and female secondary school teachers regarding the concepts of optimism and pessimism due to their relation in the process of education. Further studies of this nature should be conducted on the psychology of optimism and pessimism on other educational stages is also recommended.
