The Palestinian Foreign Trade and its Impact on the Spread of Unemployment and Poverty in the West Bank

The high rates of unemployment, poverty and low standards of living is considered as a result of the declining in economic performance, and the control of "Israel" on the crossings and the movement of people and goods and to link the Palestinian economy to the Israeli economy, and isolated from the outside world as well as restrictions on Palestinian trade movement, are of the most important problems facing the Palestinian economy, and thus formed have the motivation to do the study and make some suggestions and recommendations. This study dealt with the reality of the Palestinian foreign trade, and its role in the spread of unemployment and poverty in the West Bank, especially if the Palestinian foreign trade have undergone the procedure and the Israeli policies where "Israel" after the June 1967 war, tightly control over foreign trade imports and exports, and the seizure of the local economic resources, which in turn, led to a weakening of investment in the Palestinian economy. The study also reviewed the geographical distribution and installation of commodity imports and Palestinian exports, which shows that Palestinian exports rely on the Israeli market primarily, also became "Israel," the main source of imports of the West Bank, where more than 95% of its imports come from "Israel" and through, and about 94% of the total Palestinian exports headed to the Israeli market. The study aimed to shed light on the reality of the Palestinian economy, and the face of internal and external challenges that limit the competitiveness of Palestinian products, and make proposals and recommendations that would help in overcoming the obstacles and problems facing the Palestinian foreign trade. In this study, the literal approach that deals with the aspects of economic activity for the region was used, in order to know the overall performance of the Palestinian foreign trade mode, in addition to the curriculum fundamentalist to clarify the foundations of the basic factors that affect the Palestinian foreign trade and the volume of production, was also used multiple regression line equation (Linear regression Multiple), and the equation of simple regression line (Linear regression simple) to discuss the impact on unemployment in the West Bank, and through the choice of a total of imported goods, a (plant products, footwear, wood, fabric and its products, iron and steel), depending on the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics data. The study showed that there was a remarkable increase in the proportion of the deficit in the trade balance to GDP, which was still covered in aid and remittances, grants and loans. The study also showed that the unjust Paris economic agreement, helped grab the occupation on the Palestinian indigenous rights and facilitated the looting of goods and resources of the Palestinian people operations. The study also showed that the increase of imported goods in the Palestinian market, has led to a deterioration in the local industries and causing the closure of many shops. The study recommended the need to reform and expand the agricultural and industrial production sectors and support, and work on the diversity of production to provide the goods needed by the local market to limit imported goods.
