Abstract:
The study aimed to identify the junior basic stage teachers' own perspective about the degree of practising critical thinking skills, and their attitudes towards it, in state schools, and displaying the effect of all variables concerning : sex, specialization, qualification and experience that perspective. This study community was totally consisted of (416) male and female teachers working in junior basic stage state schools in Tulkarm Governorate ,divided as follows :( 277) male teachers and (184) female teachers distributed in (63)schools : (22) boy's schools , (18) girl's schools and ( 23) coeductional schools in the scholastic year 2013/2014, chosen in a cluster way according to sex , specialization, qualification and experience variables. The researcher applied the descriptive analytical approach,The achieve the purpose of this study the researcher designed two questionnaries. The first is related to the degree of practice consisted of (32)items distributed on (7) main domains:Comparison, summarization, observation, classification, specification, superior thinking skills and finally evaluation . The second which is consisted of (19) items is related to the junor basic stage teacher's attitudes towards applying critical thinking skills. The validity of the instrument was checked and verified by agroup of arbitrators of professorship members, bearers of dectorate in education field in Palestinian Universities . As to the reliability of the instrument was calculated according to cornbach Alpha's formula in which the reliability modulus value was (0.86) for practice measure . By answering the study questions and surveying the emerged hypotheses , the arithmetic means , the standard deviations and the percentage were derived for each domain,( T-Test) for both two separate samples and the mono – disparity analysis . The study findngs presented the following : 1- The junior basic stage teachers' degree of practising critical thinking skills was totally high at the rate of (78.25) in state schools in Tulkarm Governorate ? 2- Their attitudes towards critical thinking skills were entirely high at the rate of ( 76.46) in state schools in Tulkarm Governorate. 3- Their were no differences having statistical symbol at the level (α=0.05) among the junior basic stage teacher's own perspective about the degree of practice of critical thinking skills attributed to sex, specialization, qualification and experience variables in state schools. 4- Their were no differences having statistical symbol at the level (α=0.05) among teacher's own perspective about their attitudes towards practising critical thinking skills ascribed to the same variables in state schools in Tulkarm Governorate. 5- Evaluation domain was respectively, the most critical thinking skills applied in practice followed by observation, superior thinking skills, summarization , comparison, classification and finally specialization, On the basis of the study findings the researcher specified and suggested these considerable recommendations: 1-More similar field studies could be performed with other varied variables in other areas in Palestine . 2- Comparable studies about the same topic could be implemented between state schools and UNRWA schools.
