Abstract:
This research revealed a subject that has never been prominent in Arab studies (The Image of Man in The Poetry of the Abbasid Woman). We can see that the woman mentioned in her poetry several images for men starting with the Caliph, community man, husband, son, ending with servants. It is worth mentioning that this study is unrivaled, Even those who talked about it did not give it enough space or a deep study. This study constitutes an important material to understand the relation between both man and woman during the Abbasid period. I really want to thank Dr. Abdul Khaliq Issa who helped me to choose this title after I was confused, I wanted to choose a valuable subject and he encouraged me. At first I collected women poetry and classfied them according to my study requirement. My study depends on an inductive and descriptive approach to elicit the image of the man. I also used Historical approach because some texts can’t be analyzed apart from their historical occasion. My study includes preamble indicates poets types at the Abbasid period, and three chapters contain nine subjects. Chapter one is divided into two subjects. The first one explains the favorable image of the Caliph, while the second one mentioned the unfavorable image. The first subject of the second chapter describes the image of the all other men rather than Caliph. In addition the second indicates the image of the beloved servant in the poetry of the Caliph’s sisters and daughters. The third one mentions the image of brothers, husbands, and sons. Chapter three mentions technical features of the poetry of the Abbasid woman concerning Linguistic, technical, and musical side of the poetry. Finally I mentioned all the results of my study in the conclusion. If I wrote well, that is the Grace of Allah. If my study was incomplete, generous scientists would cover the mistakes.
