Abstract:
This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of using V-Shape maps on the achievement of knowledge and attitudes toward Environments Geography among 8th Grade students in Nablus Governorate. The study tried to answer the following questions: 1. What is the effect of using V-shape maps on students’ achievement of knowledge in Environmental Geography in Nablus Governorate? 2. What is the effect of using V-shape maps on students’ attitudes towards Environmental Geography in Nablus Governorate? 3. Is there a relationship between students’ achievement of knowledge and their attitudes toward learning Environmental Geography? The study has a population of all 8th Grade students in Nablus Governorate for the fall semester (2015-2016) (4588 male and female students). The researcher used the experimental method. chose a sample of 65 female students. The researcher used an achievement test and a measurement of attitude as tools for data collection. The tools were checked for validity by a committee of experts in the field. The test and re-test reliability was calculated; it was 0.78. After conducting the appropriate statistical analysis, the study reached to the following: 1. There are significant differences (α ≤ 0.5) between students’ means (control and experimental groups) in the re-test. 2. There are significant differences (α ≤ 0.5) between students’ means (control and experimental groups) in the measurement of attitudes. 3. There is a significant relationship (α ≤ 0.5) between students means in the achievement test and their attitudes towards learning Environmental Geography in the experimental group. The study concluded that V-shape maps are effective and less costly for teaching Environmental geography. This strategy influenced students’ achievement of knowledge and their attitudes towards learning Environmental Geography positively. The study recommended that more concern should be given to modern methods of teaching in general and V-shape maps in particular.
