Abstract:
This study investigates the effect of a program supported with stories on tenth grade students in studying the Genetics Unit in the schools of Salfit, this study tries to answer this major question: What is the effect of a program supported with stories on tenth grade students in studying the Genetics unit on their achievement and motivation towards it's learning? This question branched into the following questions: - What is the effect of a program supported with stories on the achievement of the tenth grade students in studying Genetics unit? - What is the effect of a program supported with stories on the motivation of the tenth grade students toward learning Genetics ? To answer these questions, the researcher prepared a program supported with stories. This program was carried out on a sample of tenth grade students; studied the Genetics unit using the program supported with stories, while the other sample taught by traditional method (without using a program supported with stories). The researcher also prepared an achievement test, which was given after the students had studied the unit of Genetic, and a measure of motivation to investigate the effect of the program supported with stories on the students' achievements and motivations. Then the researcher applied the experimental methodology as It was applied in the second semester of the scholastic year 2014-2015. To analyze the results, the researcher used One Way ANCOVA, in order to examine the differences between the students' means of achievements and motivation. The study concluded the following results: - There is a statistically significant difference at (α=0.05) between the means of achievement of the experimental and control groups due to the teaching method (traditional, using a program supported with stories) in favor of experimental group. - There is a statistically significant difference at (α=0.05) between the means of motivation toward learning Genetics of the experimental and control groups due to the teaching method (traditional, using a program supported with stories) in favor of experimental group. Also, the researcher recommended to train teachers in using the method of teaching by stories as this method requires employing different skills from the teachers in presenting stories to the students. In addition to training teachers on integrating the use of stories with other teaching methodologies. Moreover, the writers induced to focus on scientific and science fiction stories and afford this side of literary the study, the research and the production that it deserves.
