Abstract:
This study aims basically at setting up strategies to the process of rehabilitation and development of Balata Al-Balad village, and then reaching a practical study that could be utilized in the development process. Furthermore, the study may comprise an experience that future studies and experiments may benefit from in their Endeavour to develop and rehabilitate other Palestinian villages since almost all Palestinian villages share the same characteristics and traits. The study is based on data collected during the field investigation through surveys of the buildings located in the old sector, the elements, the urban spaces, and historical and archaeological sites in the village of Balata. The field work included filling in forms for every building and historical and archaeological site, in addition to taking photographs and making interview with old people. Collected data and field surveys were investigated and analyzed to reach solutions and strategies. The study contains recommendations to develop and rehabilitate the village. The study reached the conclusion that the proposed recommendations be applied to develop and rehabilitate the village so that it would become a place busy of life at all times not merely during tourism seasons. This objective could be reached through providing the inhabitants with the necessary services and improving their habitats so that they become an attractive place for them to live in.
