The Role of Supervisor in Developing School Administration from the Point of View of Governmental Schools Principals in North Palestine Governorates

Abstract: 
This study aimed to identify the role of supervisors in developing school administration from the point of view of governmental schools principals in north directorates at the middle of Palestine, in addition the study aimed to test the effect of gender, school type, experience and qualification variables on principals opinions of the role of supervisors in developing school administration from the point of view of governmental schools principals in north Palestine directorates. The study population consisted of all principals in the public schools in the governorates of the West Bank. They were (674) principal.The study sample consisted of (258) principals, approximately (38.3%) of the study. To achieve the goals of the study, the researcher prepared a questionnaire based on literature and related studies. The questionnaire validity was achieved by a panel of judges. The reliability coefficient was computed by Cronbach Alpha equation and it was (0.97). The questionnaire was distributed to a stratified random sample. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) with t test and ANOVA. The study obtained the following results: First: There is a moderate role of supervisors in developing school administration from the point of view of governmental schools principals in north Palestine directorates. Second: There are no significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) in the role of supervisors in developing school administration from the point of view of governmental schools principals in north Palestine directorates, due to gender in the domains of planning, human relations, effective managerial communication, vocational development, evaluation and development, total quality applying and the total degree, while there are significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) in the role of supervisors in developing school administration from the point of view of governmental schools principals in north Palestine directorates, due to gender in the domain of managerial organization in favor of males. Third: There are no significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) in the role of supervisors in developing school administration from the point of view of governmental schools principals in north Palestine directorates, due to school type in the domains of planning and managerial organization, while there are significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) in the role of supervisors in developing school administration from the point of view of governmental schools principals in north Palestine directorates, due to school type in the domains of human relations, effective managerial communication, vocational development, evaluation and development, total quality applying and the total degree in favor of basic school. Fourth: There are no significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) in the role of supervisors in developing school administration from the point of view of governmental schools principals in north Palestine directorates, due to experience and qualification. Accordingly to the findings of the study results, the researcher recommended a set of recommendations, including: - The necessity of educational supervisor participation with school principal and teachers in developing administrative and technical school plans, and not only the remedial plans. The participation will include the supervisor follow-up these plans, and methods of implementation, and evaluation of them. - The need of contributing the educational supervisor in the organization of school work, and follow-up the work of school councils, and the distribution of the school work among school staff.
