Abstract:
This study aimed at identifying the relationship between the degree of practice of educational decision making and the degree of ability to solve problems for the Public Secondary male and female school principals in the northern Governorates of the West Bank. It also aimed at determining the effect of gender, qualifications, experience in school administration, the location of the school, and the number of courses.
The study population was composed of all School Principals of the public secondary male and female in Governorates of the northern of the West Bank of the scholastic year 2008/2009.
The study was conducted on a sample of (188) principals, which represents a percentage of (55.45%) of the total population.
The study revealed the following results:
-The degree of the practice of educational decision making form the perspective of the Public Secondary male and female School Principals themselves was very high, (81.2%).
-The degree of ability to solve problems from the perspective of the Public Secondary male an female School Principals themselves was very high, (83.5%).
-There was a positive relationship that statistically significant at (α=0.01) between The degree of the practice of educational decision making and the degree of ability to solve problems for The Public Secondary male and female School Principals in the northern Governorates of the West Bank.
-There was a positive relationship that was statistically significant at (α=0.05) in the degree of the practice of educational decision making in educational tasks due to qualification variable in favor of female, and in favor of males in the area of administrative functions.
-There was a positive relationship that was statistically significant at (α=0.05) in the degree of the practice of educational decision making due to the qualifications in the areas of educational tasks, and the exercise of decision-making process, and the degree of the practice of educational decision between the diploma and bachelor's, and bachelor's in favor of.
-There was a positive relationship that was statistically significant at (α=0.05) in the degree of the practice of educational decision making due to years of service in the school management in the area of administrative functions, in the degree of practice of educational decision , in favor of the experience (less than 5 years).
-There was a positive relationship that was statistically significant at (α=0.05) in the degree of practice of educational decision making due to the location of the school in the area of administrative functions, in favor of schools of the city.
-There was a positive relationship that was statistically significant at (α=0.05) in the degree of practice of educational decision making due to the number of courses in management in the area of administrative functions between those who enrolled in the number of sessions (5-10) and the number who enrolled in courses 11 and over, in favor of those who enrolled in the number of sessions 11 more.
-There was a positive relationship that was statistically significant at (α=0.05) in the degree of ability to solve problems with the managers and directors of government secondary schools in the provinces of the northern West Bank, due to the qualifications in the areas pertaining to teachers, students, community, in favor of the highest qualification, while in the application of technology in the school was for the diploma.
-There was a positive relationship that statistically significant at (α=0.05) in the degree of ability to solve problems with the managers and directors of government secondary schools in the provinces of the northern West Bank, due to years of service in the school management in areas related to teachers, community, construction and school equipment, in favor of (less than 5 years).
-There was a positive relationship that was statistically significant at (α=0.05) in the degree of ability to solve problems with the managers and directors of government secondary schools in the provinces of the northern West Bank, due to the changing location of the school in the area of problems that are related to the application of technology in school, and was in favor of the city.
-There was a positive relationship that was statistically significant at (α=0.05) in the degree of ability to solve problems with the managers and directors of government secondary schools in the provinces of the northern West Bank, due to the number of courses in management in the areas of problems that are related to the curriculum and the problems concerning the application of technology in school , and the degree of overall ability to solve problems, and for the benefit of above (11) was in favor of (less than 5) in the area of problems that are related to students and the community.
Based on the study findings, the researchers recommend a number of recommendations, such as expanding the responsibilities of the principals to take the recommendations of the administrative functions to transfer students, and teachers to serve the educational process.
