The Mechanism of Awareness Activation & Popular Participation in Constructional Planning at West Bank

This study deals with the subject of activating awareness mechanism & popular participation in structural planning in the West Bank in general and Jenin city in special. The researcher in this study tried to point out the importance of awareness increase and popular participation due to the fact that awareness and popular participation draw the manner of future planning which contributes a lot in the planning of cities and their development. Because of the continuous population explosion in the West Bank, there was a dire need for planning and arrangement of Palestinian cities. Therefore, this study has been chosen. It is about the mechanism of activating awareness & popular participation in construction planning at West Bank so that it might be a case study the planning and arrangement of our Palestinian cities starting from the city of Jenin itself. This study aims at analyzing the current situation in the West Bank for the purpose of preparing the mechanism of activating awareness & popular participation in structural planning for the sake of raising population communities in the area. The study consists of five chapters; the first of which deals with the introduction of the study and the problem of study; its importance and aims as well as the approach of study. The second chapter is specialized for the concept & methods of popular participation as well as the basics of popular participation and its principles. Consequently, there were the factors affecting participation and lastly the studying of theories questing the concept of popular participation and its relation with planning. The third chapter concentrates on studying the historical background of popular participation in Palestine and the current situation of p participation during the interval of Palestinian authority as well as the results of questionnaire and the samples of popular participation in constructional planning at a few of world countries. The fourth chapter deals with the popular participation in structural planning at Jenin city throughout the studying of planning stages and popular participation in the preparation of skeleton planning of the city as well as the reality of popular participation at Jenin city and the obstacles of participation. Pertaining to the approach of study, the researcher has used the theoretical & informative framework of study throughout his tackle of theories & concepts related to the popular participation as well as samples of popular participation in constructional planning at a few world countries The analytical framework, evaluation & conclusion have been used as well for the purpose of knowing the role and importance of popular participation in planning at Palestine. The researcher has concluded that the mechanism of activating awareness and popular participation in Palestine is the working on illustrating the importance & role of popular participation in constructional planning for the citizen, the obtainment of his trust, institutional coordination , the working to construct a main construction working with it to perform the operations of preparing skeleton charts, collecting information at the local level, planning, holding programs & courses of training, the keenness to secure material & artistic support to save the fundamental construction & specialized artistic leaderships specialized in proper for an effective popular participation; and lastly, the working in the spirit of a single team.
