Abstract:
This study aimed to identify the leadership behavior and its relationship with the organizational climate at public secondary schools’ principals in the northern West Bank governorates from their teacher’s point of view, by answering the following questions:
1- What prevailing leadership behavior at public secondary school principals in the northern West Bank governorates from their teacher’s point of view?
2- What prevailing organizational climate at public secondary schools’ principals in the northern West Bank governorates from their teacher’s point of view?
3- What leadership behavior and its relationship with the organizational climate at public secondary schools’ principals in the northern West Bank governorates from their teacher’s point of view?
The study was conducted on a sample of (656 teachers), that is (10%) of the population of the study's (6564 teachers), has been selected stratified random manner from the teachers of public secondary schools in the provinces of northern West Bank.
The researcher used for this purpose two questionnaires; one to measure leadership behavior, a questionnaire developed by the researcher and used Shehadeh (2008), has been modified and developed to suit the current study which is composed of (32) items distributed on three areas (democratic behavior, dictatorial behavior, and allowance behavior). The second to measure the organizational climate is to identify the researcher developed and used Ahmad (2008), were modified and developed to suit the current study which is composed of (32), paragraph divided into four areas (communications, management and administration, working conditions and burdens, and administrative laws).
The two questionnaires were checked and proved to have a good degree of validity and reliability.
The results indicated that democratic behavior is the most common in the public secondary schools’ principals in the provinces of the north West Bank, where he earned a percentage (80.73%), followed by the dictatorship and the behavior of (67.60%).
Whereas the areas of organizational climate, the area of administrative laws are the area of greatest interest and common in the public secondary schools’ principals in the provinces of the North West Bank where he obtained a percentage (85.40%), followed by the organization and management, where it received (85.20%).
The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α = 0.05) in the leadership behavior of principals to public secondary schools due to the variable (specialization, qualification), while the results showed that there were significant differences due to the variable (sex, years experience, and school).
The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α = 0.05) in the organizational climate of public secondary school’ principals due to the variable (sex, specialty, qualification, and the school), while the results showed that there were significant differences due to the variable years of experience.
The results of the study showed a statistically significant correlation between leadership behavior and organizational climate of public secondary school’ principals in the provinces of northern West Bank.
