Abstract:
This study addresses one of the most important subjects that will enrich the Arabic library, which is the poetry of one of the major Andalusian poets, IbnZaidoun. The study also shows the patterns of the verbal sentence through examining each one of these patterns and applying it to IbnZaidoun's poetry. The study covers the different poetic purposes of the poet and explains the percentage of each purpose. It also addresses the statistical scheduling of the patterns found in each purpose. Moreover, the study clarifies the reasons which made the poet use each pattern through applying the different types of the verbal sentence in IbnZaidoun’s poetry. The study is a semantic one, meaning that it focuses on the percentages of verbal sentence use in the poetic purposes. Through this study, the researcher has revealed that the poet used the verbal sentence in different ways and patterns, as well as in various percentages. The simple sentence with its various patterns was used to suit the poet’s aim, whereas the extended sentence used the questioning, for example, which made the poem go beyond its original purpose to hit other purposes that expressed the condition that the poet was going through. We also noticed that the syntactic formations were different, yet very consistent with the text in which it occurred. The semantic formations on the other hand helped dig deep inside the poet’s psychology and the emotions and feelings that are inside him through combining and linking semantics, syntax and the statistical aspect together
