Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the effect of using the virtual laboratory of science experiments on the development of science processes and the acquisition of concepts among the student of the fifth grade. The study attempted to answer the following questions: 1- Is there a difference between the average of both the experimental group and the control group to test science processes which may be due to using the virtual lab? 2- Is there a difference between the average of student marks of both experimental and control group to test the concepts which may be due to using the virtual lab This studying sample consists of (40) students which was chosen by deliberately from fifth grade student in Sarta Secondary Girls School in the Ministry Of Education/Salfeet. The students were distributed into two equal groups. One of them was assigned randomly to be the experimental group which contains (20) students that studied by virtual laboratory, whereas the control group which contains (20) students studied by using the ordinary method. Therefore, to achieve the aims of this study the researcher prepared the following study items: the scientific concept test with its final form consists of (29) questions of multiple- choice type with four alternatives, and the science processes test which is formed of (14) questions of multiple- choice type with four alternatives, and meetings. In order to answer the question of the study (ANCOVA) was used which showed the following results: 1- There is a statistically significant difference in the average of both experimental and control groups related to science processes test due to using the virtual lab. 2- There is a statistically significant difference in the average of the marks of both experimental and control groups related to the concept test due to using the virtual lab. Therefore, the study recommends the use of the virtual laboratory as a technique to teach science as it has a vital role in developing the science processes and acquiring concepts for fifth grade student. Also, the study recommends to run other studies of using virtual laboratories in teaching student science in classes of different levels.
