On the other hand, the personal motivations were fear, lowliness, instinct of defense and adaptation, avarice, and carefulness vis a vis his asceticism, community of masses, kinship, stronghold, grievances, smell of death and its psychological traits as well as his natural readiness. Pertaining to Abee Ishaq Al-Elbeeri, the general motivations for his poetry of asceticism included political and social conditions while his personal motivations were his work in litigation and the influence of oriental poets on him. Chapter two tackled the themes dealt with in poetry of asceticism by the two poets in question.
