This study aims at identifying the cultural values which the childhood songs reflect and the social functions that are achieved in the Palestinian community . Such importance emerges from highlighting focus on some of the elements of folklore within the society .
To achieve the study aims , the researcher tackles the songs of childhood in term of the following aspects:-
• Religious songs –seasonal songs-patriotic songs
• Dancing and ceremonial songs- circumcision songs.
• Riddle songs- and other songs which tackle kidding and ambiguity.
The researcher then discusses songs of children which are used by other populations and cultures in order to identify similarities of the childhood songs .
The research showed the following results:
1. Children songs have many purposes such as making children fall asleep and teaching them values and good behaviors .
2. Accents which are found in the Palestinian song are an extension to the accents which spread in the Arabia. Utterances vary from an area to another according to the local accent .
3. Childhood songs in term of their topics promote and enhance morals and deeds of goodness and quitting evil . They support committing to norms and values .
4. Some beliefs merge into the song spirit and such meanings came from adults .
5. Identified and specified the characteristics of a folkloric song.
