Abstract:
This research is titled Factors that Determine Family Stability in Islam and has been presented as a completion of the requirements to obtain the Master Degree from the Faculty of Higher Studies at An-Najah National University. The research is divided into a preface, three chapters and a conclusion. In the preface the I defined the meaning of a family, its parts and functions as well as how Islam views marriage. In the first chapter, I discussed the factors that determine how stable a family would be. Such factors included: the selection of a partner, adequacy, engagement, pre-marriage medical examination and the impact of each one of these factors on family stability and life after marriage. The second chapter included a discussion of the factors that help achieve stability after marriage such as: the rights of both the husband and the wife, jealousy between the two, polygamy, children, the balanced relationships between the husband and the wife with their families, the wife's work, as well as the impact of each factor on the family's stability. I concluded this chapter by talking about the principles that govern the way couples treat each other so that they both comply with the directions of Islam. In the third chapter I talked about how to protect today's family and ensure its stability. This was discussed in two parts. First I explained the preventive measures while in the other I talked about the solutions that could be used to protect modern family and ensure its stability. Finally, I concluded the research by describing the most important results that this study has reached as well as providing a number of recommendations and a list of the resources on which I depended to complete this study.
