Abstract:
The aim of this study is to examine the relation between anthropometric measurements and the sport achievement in some athletic sports for students in Palestine Technical University (Kadoorie), in addition to determine which anthropometric measurements affect the sport achievements most. To achieve the aim of the study, a sample of 85 students aged between (18-24) years. The researcherused the descriptive approach where he used the anthropometric measurements (height, perimeter, width and weight) linked to numerical achievement in (high jump, long jump and 100m). After data collection it was analysed using (SPSS Programme). Where the study showed analytically a relation between anthropometric measurements (body height, The study proved also that the body height was the most important measurement contsibuting in the numerical achievement Subsequently the study found these formulas:. The sport achievement in high jump for male students (m) = - 0.838 + (1.328 × body height (m)). The sport achievement in long jump for male students (m) = - 11.882+ (9.598 × body height (m)). The sport achievement for 100m running for male (sec) = 24.925- (0.124 × leg length (cm)). The sport achievement in high jump for female students (m) = - 2.502+ (2.265 × height (m)). The sport achievement in long jump for female students (m) = -9.881 + (8.259 × height (m)). The sport achievement for 100m running for female (sec) = 34.507 - (0.520 × foot length (cm)) + (0.483 × humerus length (cm)) - (0.188 × shoulders perimeter (cm)). The researcher recommends focusing on body height during the selection of universities teams for athletic games especially for high jump. Keywords: Anthropometric measurements, efficiency of high and long jump and 100m run, University stage.
