لَقَدِ اعْتَمَدَ الفَرَّاءُ التَّوَهُّمَ في تَوْجِيهِ مَظَاهِرَ لُغَوِيَّةٍ وَتَعْلِيلِهَا، وَأَفْرَطَ في هَذَا الاعْتِمَادِ. وَقَدْ شَكَّلَ تَآلُفُ مَوَاضِعِ التَّوَهُّمِ عِنْدَهُ وَحْدَةً مُتَكَامِلَةً تُفْصِحُ عَنْ مُرَادٍ مَقْصُودٍ، وَتُنْبِئُ عَنْ مَذْهَبٍ في التَّعْلِيلِ وَالتَّفْسِيرِ، يَتْرُكُ الظَّاهِرَ إِلَى الأَخْذِ بِالظَّنِّ.
