Child in the Centre Getting it Right and Getting it Wrong in the UK

This paper will discuss the ethics and responsibilities of statutory Child Protection work in Britain with a particular focus on the Rights of the Child and the Voice of the Child. I will outline the key responsibilities and principles in child protection work found in the legislation and the Professional Code of Social Work.
I will draw on examples from practice in order to consider the topic of Responsibilities and Ethics in Child Protection in the UK focusing on the following:
Where do they come from and what are they?
Ethical Dilemmas in Practice arising from issues such as “Personal v Professional”, “Family Rights v Child Rights”, “Protection in the Family v Protection in the Community”.
