The Obstacles Faced by the Professors of Jordanian Private Universities in Practicing Sports Activities

Abstract: 

The current study aimed to identify the obstacles faced by the university professor in practicing sports activities. The study sample consisted of (106) professors in private Jordanian universities who were randomly selected from the population of the study. The researchers have used the descriptive method for this study. The study includes four domains that are sport abilities, health, physical, physiological and social domains. The results showed that there is no relationship between the obstacles of practicing sports activities for the university professors due to the variable of sex, whereas there is relationship between the obstacles of practicing sports activities by the professors due to the variable of age. Also, there is relationship between the obstacles of the health and physical domains for the professors due to the variable of educational qualification. Finally, the results also indicated that there is relationship between the obstacles of practicing sports activities as a whole for the professors due to the variable of educational qualification. The study recommended that it’s necessary to offer enough and suitable sport devices and tools in universities and provide universities with facilities for sport activities. (indoor and outdoor playgrounds and dress rooms). Also, It’s necessary to review in planning and organizing sport activities with timetable and working conditions of university professors and concern about factors of safety in practicing sport activity and proceeding similar study for the obstacles which faced practicing sport activity.
