Abstract: 

This paper deals with family violence against women that has become a social phenomenon about which several conferences, workshops and campaigns have been held. The paper investigates the causes of violence, its patterns, its prevalence and danger. As an introduction to the related Islamic legislation, established to limit the phenomenon and its effects, a literature review is included. In addition, Islamic legislative measures proposed in numerous Islamic sources (Fiqh, Tafseer and Hadeeth) were studied and analyzed. As a result, this research concluded that family violence in our society is prevalent and badly needs necessary measures to encounter this phenomenon in order to reduce it. This study came up with ten Islamic measures that may contribute to limit the phenomenon.
