Abstract:

Break is a concept similar to assonance and rhyme belonging to verses. Breaks are included in the holy Quran but not confined to it. Assonance is also another concept sometimes used for break. However, there is no agreement on relating the concept of break to the holy Quran where a group of scholars prefer the concept 'break' denying the concept 'assonance' in the holy Quran. This is in order to refrain the holy Quran from concepts related to speech narrated by priests. The matter here is not solely related to the concept but concerned with attributing such a phenomenon to both phonetic and semantic values. Such inclusion refers to the choice of verbal forms which ameliorates pronouncing their letters, their regularity, forms and quality in order to convey the intended meaning without affectation. This should achieve phonetic harmony and tonal rhythm which distinguish breaks of the holy Quran. The researcher investigated the phenomenon of breaks in the different Suras of the holy Quran adopting the descriptive analytical method. First, he presented Quranic patterns, analyzed them and then presented their significant denotations and aesthetic values which distinguish Quranic constructions from others.
